11th Annual World Ocean Summit and Expo 2024

The 11th Annual World Ocean Summit and Expo is set to return to Lisbon, Portugal in 2024, building upon the success of last year’s impactful gathering in Portugal, a city renowned for championing the advancement of a sustainable ocean economy. Drawing together a diverse spectrum of ocean stakeholders, including representatives from business, finance, government, policy-making bodies, civil society, and academia, the summit aims to catalyse concrete actions toward fostering a sustainable ocean economy.

At its core, the summit seeks to foster fresh collaborations spanning industries, uniting NGOs, scientists, technology innovators, and investors. By assembling a comprehensive array of stakeholders within the ocean ecosystem, the summit serves as a pivotal platform for igniting innovative synergies, crafting solutions, and devising strategies to achieve the 2030 targets outlined in UN Sustainable Development Goal 14.

The 2024 agenda prioritises discussions on ocean health, highlighting industry-driven strategies to expedite the sustainable growth of the ocean economy and presenting solutions that address the intersection of oceans and climate. Each session will emphasise themes of investment and pioneering financial mechanisms geared toward revitalising oceanic health.

Sessions will traverse high-level policy deliberations in plenary sessions, in-depth explorations of ocean-based industries and actionable remedies to address oceanic challenges in specialised track sessions, and hands-on engagement within the “How to” working group sessions. Newly introduced for 2024, the “How to” working groups aim to formulate actionable directives and practical insights for individuals and organisations dedicated to rejuvenating ocean health.
