Start: Tuesday 19th December 2023
End: Wednesday 20th December 2023
Location: Barcelona
Grumets Research Group will host the Annual Iliad Project Meeting for Digital Twins of the Ocean in Barcelona, Spain.
On December 19th and 20th, the Casa de Convalecencia in Barcelona will welcome the Iliad consortium, which consists of 56 partners dedicated to advancing the Digital Twins of the Ocean initiative. The meeting aims to showcase the strides made by each partner within the project.
The primary focus of this meeting will be the unveiling of 22 pilot cases, spotlighting the progress achieved. Additionally, there will be discussions surrounding the proposal of standardised protocols and norms, notably the Iliad Architecture and API, intended to unify the efforts of all participating entities.
The Iliad project endeavours to create virtual representations of the ocean, integrating Earth Observation data, models, and digital infrastructures to forecast the marine environment's future. With a goal to establish a cost-effective, interoperable, data-intensive Digital Twins of the Ocean, this initiative consolidates two decades of investment in policy and infrastructure for the blue economy.
The project is funded by the European Union's Horizon 2020 program.
