The ‘Smart specialisation strategies for a sustainable blue economy. The interregional dimension’ workshop will take place online on Wednesday 12th October 2022 between 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM (Europe/Brussels).
Funded by the European Commission and the European Committee of the Regions, the workshop is organised within the framework of the 2022 edition of the European Week of Regions and Cities. This event is the largest Brussels-based event dedicated to cohesion policy and invites all European regions and cities to collaborate and exchange good practices and policy learning.
The ‘Smart specialisation strategies for a sustainable blue economy. The interregional dimension’ workshop will focus on the Smart Specialisation Strategies (S3) identified by DG MARE, who are responsible for setting up the S3 thematic platform for a Sustainable Blue Economy (SBE), which is centred around Agri-Food, Energy, and Industrial Modernisation. This will be used as a critical tool for implementing Communication on the SBE, as part of the European Green Deal (EGD).
The S3 thematic interactive platform supports interregional cooperation, encouraging partnerships across the EU. The long-term goal of this platform is to provide and support global value chains, develop and enhance regional knowledge bases, and increase transnational joint strategies of innovation.
