Description

Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas, Breda, the Netherlands, est. 1966) is a relatively small and specialized University of Applied Sciences with around 7000 students and 700 staff members. BUas has a well-recognized position in the area of spatial planning (Academy for Built Environment and Logistics, ABEL) and Games & Media (Academy for AI, Games and Media. AGM). A significant part of R&D funding comes from EU funding, industry clients, and international research partnerships. Serious / Simulation Games (SG) / Digital Twins for next generation planning support is one of the key areas of expertise. Professors, researchers, lecturers, and students work together with the entertainment games, serious games and digital media industries, alongside research institutes and societal partners worldwide. In the CRADLE R&D lab, the next generation of games and digital media are designed and created. CRADLE has been in the lead of the technical development of the MSP Challenge simulation platform (www.mspchallenge.info) since 2016. Over the years, senior and junior researchers at BUas have become well-versed in the area of Maritime Spatial Planning with a global network of partners and supporters of the MSP Challenge community.
